Chris Folk is director of the Homeland Security Systems Engineering and Development Institute (HSSEDI)TM, National Protection and Response Division. HSSEDI is sponsored by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and operated by The MITRE Corporation. Mr. Folk brings more than 20 years of experience supporting the national and homeland security communities, working in operations, intelligence, infrastructure protection, and cybersecurity programs for DHS, the Department of Defense, and the Intelligence Community. His work experience spans all phases of systems engineering and program management, including policy analysis and concept of operations development. Mr. Folk has been a primary contributor to a number of Homeland Security related cybersecurity strategies. Most recently, Chris co-authored the February 2015 AFCEA “The Security Implications of the Internet of Things” white paper and the November 2015 AFCEA “Driving Cybersecurity Awareness HOME” whitepaper as well as an eleven part article series on the CyberPhysicalHuman World of Homeland Security. He is an adviser to the Washington Cyber Roundtable; a member of the AFCEA Cyber Committee; a lead for the MITRE Corporate Critical Infrastructure Security and Resilience (CISR) Strategy; and is the lead for all civil cybersecurity programs at MITRE, reporting to the senior vice president and chief security officer.
